Week 3 Blurb

And We're Back!

Monday Night

Week 2 is in the books and it represented a return to normalcy after an insane Week 1 in which it seemed like half the league doubled up.

A couple things worth mentioning:

Zac Is On Fire

Perennial crashout Zac is on fire (in a good way, for once!) to start this season. First off, he's chosen a spectacular Simpsons name (good karma). Secondly, he doubled up in Week 1 rather than go his normal route of immediate bankruptcy. Then he stepped it up with a 4-fer this week and now sits alone in first place!

The Swift Hand of Judgment

Speaking of karma, the swift hand of judgment ruled with authority on RowlandIsUgly. First off, his choice of names was questionable. We all know The Commish's looks frequently cause both men and women to swoon. RowlandIsUgly is clearly demonstrating a pathetic level of jealousy.

But secondly, he broke a JRA rule by betting more than 9,600 points with his Week 2 buy-in. We all know that Week 2 buy-ins get credit for an 0-fer (negative 400 points) in Week 1. I'm just glad this guy doesn't work with numbers in his professional career! (Checks notes...oh shit, this guy runs an engineering company in Boston? Watch your ass, Massachusetts!)

How does this all relate to karma, you ask? He went 0-fer and bankrupt this week.

Name of the Week

I'm going to give credit each week (or at least each time I write something) to a name that I appreciate in this league. Maybe it's funny. Maybe it's...well, it's probably always going to be funny if I'm calling it out. Anyway, this week I'm giving notice to NewDadStillBad. He's doing well to start the season (27th place) and used to work in my office and coach my company softball team. I'm psyched to see that he's spawning new life into the world and even more excited that he's likely going to make it past September before going bankrupt this season :)

Misery Loves Company

Lost money on Philly this weekend? You're not alone. 40% of the people in this pool did the same thing!

The Commish's Weekly Rant

A quick rant before I sign off. I'm fucking tired of the narrative that Baker Mayfield is a better quarterback than Jalen Hurts. I know that neither of these quarterbacks is perfect...but what kind of sorcery is Baker Mayfield doing to convince everyone that his erratic quarterback play is anything special?

I'm not saying that Jalen Hurts is a top 5 quarterback here. But the Baker Mayfield love has got to slow down. Everything people say about Mayfield (He's a winner. He's a leader. He'll do whatever it takes. He wins ugly.) is what people should be celebrating about Hurts. Mayfield is a poor man's Jalen Hurts.

Next week we'll discuss Bo Nix.

A couple more for this week:

Who Did People Who Have At Least Doubled Their Initial 10k Points After 2 Weeks Bet On?

Who Did People Who Have Already Gone Out?

Also -- Exactly the same number of people (7) have doubled up as gone out. How's that for symmetry?
